World’s leading global bread maker

The leading global bread maker embarked on a lean transformation to streamline operations, reduce costs, and position itself for future growth. By adopting lean principles across its global network, the company created a culture of continuous improvement while achieving significant financial and operational gains.
The company needed to implement best-practise lean manufacturing methods across bread and snack divisions in Mexico, the U.S., Latin America, and China. The goal was not only to reduce costs but also to create a scalable operating model that supported continued business expansion through acquisitions. In the second year, the challenge intensified when the Operations VP for Mexico set a bold target of conducting 1,000 kaizen events across all 29 facilities in the country.
The transformation began with a diagnostic of the global plant network to identify opportunities for improvement. The team introduced lean practises across manufacturing, logistics, warehousing, and administrative processes. Kaizen activities played a central role in driving efficiencies and cost savings. In parallel, continuous improvement personnel were trained to sustain results over the long term and to expand improvements beyond initial implementation.
